Raining?......again?!
Raining?......again?!
Monday, 18 January 2021
Over the last few weeks, maybe our garden wasn’t quite achieving ‘all’ the characteristics of The Somme, but so far this month there have been great efforts made by assorted* rain clouds to rectify the situation.
It is simply not wise to loiter anywhere in the garden for long, else one is inclined towards a sinking feeling, fearful thoughts that turn towards being sucked into the Underworld of Soggy Gloom and Excessive Dampness......(A pair of miserable characters if ever there was......?)
The daylight** such as there has been (though I’m relying on stories as told by our Wonderful Weather Persons) is still in short supply, which isn’t helpful when making lace. I have Ideas and Plans awaiting execution and Need Decent Daylight!
The other day we were blessed by a Day of Brightness, so I took advantage of the situation and created the Tiny Wise Owl, the making of which took up the entire day of useful daylight, which isn’t very long at this time of year. This all-seeing Tiny Wise Owl will eventually reside within the branches of the current Tree in Progress, hence the rather odd looking loop at the base of the Owl, which, when the time comes, will facilitate its attachment to the back of the tree, causing little in the way of disturbance and it will then look less like a deranged sheep’s head!
I am hopeful, as January progresses into February, of feeling a little less like Mole***scurrying up to the earth’s surface, on odd occasions, to greet the sun. There is nothing quite like a spot of decent daylight when making lace!
*We have recently been granted the spectacle of clouds of all colours, shapes and thicknesses (mainly thicknesses). Never has there been such a variety of clouds to entertain so freely, all guaranteed to produce rain, with the additional scattering of sleet for good measure......
**Blink, and One would have missed it...
