The Knitting Mountain......Still Growing!
The Knitting Mountain......Still Growing!
Thursday, 4 June 2020
The knitting continues, although we have, at last been released from captivity into the outside world again......it has been a strange experience!
Whoever would have dreamed that visiting the local supermarket could ever be the highlight of the day, the week, or for the last few months? Long may this semblance of normality continue, but I’m not holding my breath just yet!!! Although I’m not one to ‘panic buy’ but I must admit to making very sure that our shelves are once again more normally stocked, ‘just in case’......!
I’ve reviewed the Lockdown Knitting Mountain*, the knitted squares organised into tightly packed bags of same colour/type of yarn. I’ve even counted up the progress so far......which has passed the 300 squares mark, a staggering total that even amazed me!
Since I still have a reasonable amount of yarn left, and since ‘things‘ have not yet really resumed what counts for ‘normal‘ here, I shall continue knitting until I know I have the exact number of 36 squares required for each baby shawl......and then start sewing them up!
Then! I shall really feel that for us, this lockdown has not been in vain, having been fortunate that our family has remained in good health......and, it has generated the production of something useful for a few of those in need, too!
*As has Septimus, who is still hoping to be a recipient......no chance, he has his own already!
