Yes! All Very Pretty...But Where’s My Dinner......???
Yes! All Very Pretty...But Where’s My Dinner......???

Well...this is what The Evil (but very Cute and Dressed for Dinner!) Cat Septimus, was undoubtedly thinking with reference to both the Christmas Tree and his dining preferences. His main preference being of the Now variety!
In common with just about everyone everywhere, December is ‘one of those’ months when other interests, even lacemaking, have to take second place to the feeding of the masses. It is most inconvenient, but the starving masses make such a noise when the Christmas Puddings and Cakes (note the plural here!) have not put in their early appearance.......or, indeed, any appearance at all!
Unfortunately, this was the case in the Septimus household, this non-appearance was causing a Great Wringing of Hands (and Paws*). General Consternation was apparent, since my absence from Christmas Cooking duties during November had been noted and, worse still, there appeared to be no obvious sign of their reinstatement. My consoling words of ‘it will all get done’ and ‘there’s plenty of time left yet’ seemed to hold little festive charm, or cheer, for that matter......and yet???
Presto! The shopping, the baking, the card writing, the present wrapping and cooking were all done, and in time......as if by magic!!!
Admittedly, not much in actual lacemaking terms had been done, but there’s been plenty of Time to Think** about future plans when waiting for stuff to cook......
*Septimus wishes to make it clear that he Does Not participate in the eating of cakes and puddings, he restricts himself to merely the eating of roast turkey, cooked to perfections, finely chopped and served in his own special dishes of finely produced ‘porcelain’.
**Time to Think; this is often in short supply, but when designing, it is often a much underrated commodity......
