A Game of Crowns...
A Game of Crowns...

Quite a game indeed!
This Silver Gilt Crown (in case of doubt, I’m talking about the one in the photo above, on the right - the lace version!) was inspired by the stone version (in the photo, above left) proudly standing in the grounds of Wightwick Manor, which is now owned and maintained by the National Trust, near Wolverhampton*.
The Rich Gold Crown, forms the base of The Little Nut Tree in Summer**, whereas The Silver Crown***, also worked in silk**** rather neatly forms the base out of which the Winter Nut Tree grows...
This particular crown was not the first in my Game of Crowns, in fact it is Number 4 out of the cast of five. So far there has been a Rich Gold Crown, a Pale Gold Crown (diet version?!), a Silver Crown, a Silver Gilt Crown and a Rose Gold Crown......might there be more?
Probably not!
The notes for all these Crowns and the two Nut Trees are typed up but now they’re being bashed into (no, no, carefully assembled!) readable and, more importantly, workable form......soon to join the ever increasing ranks of the Occasional Oddities series of booklets
Q: What is the collective name for a group pf crowns?
A: A surfeit!
*A wonderful Arts and Crafts style house, furnished in period, filled with wonderful treasures and Pre-Raphaelite paintings and drawings!
