The Peking Bird......
The Peking Bird......
Monday, 10 June 2019
Something of a Belated Blog this month, but with an Oriental slant!
But, I have not been idle, as The Peking Bird* will testify......
Not only have I produced another Patterns Pending booklet, this time designed to be suitable for a very near beginner to bobbin lace, but I have been away teaching.
I was again invited to teach at one of the Great Escapes Weekend workshops, which this time was held at the beginning of June in Cookham (near Windsor), then life generally stood in the way, hence the lateness of the blog!
It was a glorious weekend in beautiful surroundings, helped magnificently by the weather being kind to us, as can be seen by the photo taken in Cliveden’s Japanese Garden**. Cliveden was just a short drive away from the workshop venue, so as Saturday afternoon was ‘free time’ for students to play with their lace or do anything else that took their fancy, a trip to Cliveden seemed like a good plan to me. Another good plan, was to avoid investigating the Cliveden maze, fun though it might have been, ‘just’ in case......
I had a need to get back to the venue for the evening teaching session, one missed turn and I might still have been there, wandering, looking for the way out, lost to lacemaking forever more......
