Finally the months, yes, months of work putting this booklet together have born fruit!
The Reason for Why here is that this is only one of a series of linked patterns, so all the patterns needed to be designed, worked and finished with all their notes typed up, before some inkling of an idea would give rise to the solution of how to produce the myriad of instructions in booklet form.
So! Having typed out all the notes and taken the photographs of these Pear:Shaped notes and diagrams, it became apparent that with a fairly large dose of luck, they would all fit into one booklet. They do fit!
Ta da!!! This booklet shall go to the ball...
Due to the quantity of the pattern notes and diagrams etc., required for the piece ‘...and A Partridge in a Pear Tree’, there could only be space to fit in one additional pattern. It is, however, a very special pattern, it is entitled, ‘A Pair of Pears’. This pattern, an attractive piece for its own sake, offers a valuable practice piece, before embarking on the more elaborate ‘...and a Partridge in a Pear Tree’.
Ah, but some may ask...‘where IS the Partridge?’
The answer is that Partridges are considered to be ‘game birds’ meaning that during the hunting season they can be shot. They are not stupid birds, so they prefer to stay hidden, out of harms way and any hunter’s gun barrel!
This bird is being particularly careful. Looking very carefully yourself, you might be able to spot it’s splendidly coloured red legs, or are they part of the tree?. You might even be able to spot it’s grey feathered breast and maybe the outline of its back, or is it the tree? How about some rather beaky-looking leaves? Could there be an eye glinting in the greenery? Now you see it and, just like The Leverets, now you don’t......
And so......on to the next Grand Assembly of Notes: ‘I Had a Little Nut Tree...’ and ‘A Nut Tree in Winter’. With luck and good fortune, these things take time, but I have hopes that Winter might be early this year......
