The Fall of the Figs!
The Fall of the Figs!
Tuesday, 1 October 2019
The Figs of Autumn have fallen......and very delicious they were too!
Surprisingly, in spite of the weather bringing us the odd gale here and there earlier in the year, we had quite a good crop. With figs one must be careful not to over indulge, consequently our neighbours were also delighted!!
Figs have such wonderful colours...both inside and out...and I can almost feel their ridges crying out for the odd Milanese braid or two, to be immortalised in silk.
However (there always seems to be the odd ‘however’), such ideas will have had to wait!
This season, having completed The Little Nut Tree set of booklets, I have had to restrain any creative juices and concentrate on planning for the exhibition of my work at the Havant Lace Fair on Saturday !6th November*, to which I have been invited. As ever, the most difficult part is not deciding what to take, but rather what to leave out, and my printer has been working overtime to get all the booklet stores up to date!**
Not to worry, in between then and now, I shall have plenty of thinking time, sitting in various airport lounges waiting to be called to whizz off to the sun’s Florida hangout. There’s nothing ‘quite’ like teaching and making lace when the light is so brilliantly clear......(sigh, it’s a hard life!)......and the company such fun!
