...you can wait for ages and then three come along at once!
How true, even when it comes to lace patterns......well, it’s certainly true for these patterns!
Hopefully, they’ll be worth the waiting for?!
So here they are then, The Splitting Hares Trilogy*: ‘Splitting Hares’, ‘Hare Today’... and ...’Two Tomorrow’. Each of the three booklets in the Limited Edition set is individually signed - and they’re all tied up with appropriately hairy string.
They will only be available as a set. This is because full instructions for each of the patterns would take up far more space than one booklet would allow and instructions would have been endlessly repeated. They were designed as a set, with each pattern following on from the other to create story in lace, thus the instructions run, like a hare, across all three pattern fields.
The Leverets** were born out of these patterns and, like some buses, the booklet arrived in advance of those they would be expected to follow......
But what about the Tree, also pictured above? How does that fit in to this grand scheme??
Was it growing in the corner of a field???
Well, the simple answers are that it doesn’t, except that along with ’...And A Partridge in a Pear Tree’***, the ideas were festering in the corner of my mind. This festering resulted in the above confection bearing fruit in the guise of, ‘I Had a Little Nut tree...’****
Without the diversion of creating more designs, the arranging and the typing up of their extensive notes and diagrams for the Trilogy might well have sent the designer ‘slightly mad, just very slightly mad’, to quote Freddy Mercury.*****
