......and A Partridge in a Pear Tree!
......and A Partridge in a Pear Tree!
Thursday, 1 March 2018
The Long-Awaited Partridge has finally made its roost in the Pear Tree!
Although, in meteorological terms, today is officially the First Day of Spring, thus rendering the Partridge a little unseasonal, the actual weather is highly appropriate for such a bird. This is a bird more normally associated with the seasonal greetings of Christmas, but at least its better-late-than-never debut is celebrated with all the trimmings of a Christmas card!
Our temperatures are hovering around -4C and likely to fall even further ere long. We are forecast to expect extremely strong winds, so the chill factor will be even more extreme. Virtually all transport has been shut down as we await the doom of unseasonable, unreasonable even, weather passing through. We are warned to stay indoors and not travel unless absolutely necessary...
So, no problem with that idea here, then!
Already, there is a (partly drawn up) companion pattern for the ‘Pair of Pears’ and the ‘Partridge in a Pear Tree’, in the pipeline. The notes for which, written while working the lace, need to be typed up.
And, at last but by no means least, the Very-Long-Awaited Notes for the Hares Series, really are being assembled and made fit for human consumption......
Such a shame, the evil weather means the garden weeding will have to be put on hold......
It’s an ill wind......!!!
