There’s Something happening in the Garden......
Wednesday, 31 January 2018
Not wanting to tempt fate in any way, but after the snow, the sleet, the hail, the gales and rather more than our fair share of rain, some of the flowers in the garden have thrown caution to the wind to peep over the precipices of their earthy homes. They cautiously nod at the frail watery glimmers of sun flickering down to their earthly domain...
Does this really mean that Spring is at last on the way? Can I expect, rather than just hope for, some decent amounts of light to enable (something faster than snails pace) growth on the lace pillow??
I dearly hope so. January has been a very gloomy month, with the only benefit of the snow being reflected light, which does allow for greater all around brightness to aid progress.
Artificial spotlight can be pretty good really, but does tend to produce stronger shadows. The result is that when using a myriad of colours of a similar mid-tone range, which for this pattern are of necessity, the very fine silk threads can be easily confused with their shadows!
<Sigh...but, no matter! I struggle onwards and upwards, suffering for my Art......another deep sigh, with mopping of brow......>
So, with some brighter and longer daylight hours over the past few days, the periwinkle flowers are starting to bloom, the anemones are surfacing and the slowly growing trunk of the Pear Tree* is putting on something of a spurt - for which the Partridge is delighted!
Squawk!
