Butterfly Number two - Flying tonight!

March winds have blown in with the completion of Butterfly no. 2, in the Flights of Fancy series, with Butterfly no. 3 well settled, but not yet finished, on the pillow!
As I mentioned in the Blog last month*, these patterns (developed from The Leverets) are proving to be incredibly versatile......
On close inspection, it will be seen that Butterfly no. 2** (illustrated above, width 3 1/2“) has a different body and longer antennae than Butterfly no. 1*. Also noticeable is that the body has been positioned upside-down from the wing shapes (Sections 1 and Sections 4 from The Leverets) of Butterfly no.1......and that the wings for Butterfly no. 2 have been extended with the additions of Sections 5 and Sections 8 (as used in The Leverets).
Although they are different sets of colours, the eight thread colours used for each butterfly follow the same arrangement as those used for the Leverets i.e. the colours are set into a tonal order with the lightest tone being (no 1) colour and the darkest tone being (no 8). Providing that the colours for each set are placed in the same tonal order, this system allows all the butterflies, regardless of the colour set chosen for each butterfly, to be worked from the same pattern i.e. The Leverets.
The selection of Milanese braid patterns are also the same as those used for The Leverets, and used in the same positions.
The confection that is Butterfly no. 3, will soon be quivvering at the end of the runway, cleared for take off.......
