Surely not, do I hear you thinking???
Well yes, sitting in their boxes, the blue/grey silks* were starting to take on an even frostier glare in the cold winter light, desperate to be taken out for a moment of glory......see how the silks so wonderfully reflect the colours of a frosty sky?
So work has begun on the Winter Reflection! However, their silken glory will have to be shared, I’m also using a fine white iridescent thread** to catch the light on outer edges. This extra pair of threads will be included when working the Withof roll, the aim being to exaggerate the frosting on the leaves, such as they might have when experiencing a hoar-frost.
The photo above was taken on a very cold and frosty morning. The sun’s rays, where they had deigned to fall, had melted the frost though in the shaded areas it was still thick and crunchy. The pregnant ewes were casually nibbling at the grass, warily watching me slowly freeze, where I was attempting to defy frostbite and draw them, just ‘because’. (Oh, how one suffers for one’s art!)
Not to worry! Just reflect - it’ll soon be time for Summer!!!
